January 2009: Deputy Treasurer Paty retrieved and distributed post office box receipts. He or his designee do so at least monthly thereafter (weekly prior to gala)>

January 2009: Secretary Knowles submitted the SCW-FL annual report to GSCW.

January 13, 2009: Governor Meeks convened a Council meeting at the First National in Palm Beach boardroom. Secretary Knowles presented the December Council minutes. Treasurer Ward presented financial reports. Membership Chairman Voss presented the membership report. Grants and Contributions Chairman Searcy presented a revised 2009 grants proposal. Nominations Chairman Morrish presented nominations for 2009 Officers and council. Two other reports are addressed below. A proposal was made to reimburse the GSCW annual meeting delegation; Council accepted this with specific language to be brought to March Council. A proposal was made to add a membership meeting at the Sailfish Club beginning January 2010, with a council meeting immediately afterwards. Council deferred this pending liason with the Sailfish Club and further deliberation at March council. Other reports and business are detailed in minutes compiled by Secretary Knowles.

Gala Co-chairmen Rutherfurd and Knowles reported the Friday February 6, 2009 Annual Court preparations are on schedule, including coordination with the Colonial Dames of America, Chapter XVII, and upcoming meeting(s) with Everglades Club staff. Warriors were encouraged to r.s.v.p.

Chairman Morrish reported the Saturday February 6, 2009 gala luncheon preparations are on schedule, including upcoming meeting(s) with the Bath and Tennis Club staff. Warriors were again encouraged to r.s.v.p.

February 6, 2009: Governor Meeks convened the annual meeting at the Everglades Club. Secretary Knowles presented the January 13, 2009 Council, the financial reports were submitted, and the Membership Chairman Voss presented the membership report. Nominations Chairman Morrish presented the nominations for 2009 officers: Elected were Ward for Governor, Knowles for Deputy Governor and Secretary, Morrish for First Lieutenant Governor, Ferrin for Second Lieutenant Governor, Voss for Deputy Secretary and Registrar/Genealogist, Searcy for Treasurer and Grants/Donations, Paty for Deputy Treasurer, Hurt for Membership and Programs, Myers for Historian, Stickney for Awards/Decorations, The Rev Pollard for Chaplain, Robertson for Chancellor, and Dr. Bissell for Surgeon. For the General Society, Meeks for Deputy Governor General, La Voy for First Assistant Governor General, and Atkinson for Second Assistant Governor General. For Council, Bitting, all officers, and all past governors. A "broken arrow" ceremony was performed in memory of warriors passing since the last annual meeting. Governor Meeks and Colonial Dames of America, Chapter XVI President Gibbons welcomed members and guests at a gala following the annual meeting.

February 7, 2009: Governor Meeks welcomed members and warriors from out-of-town at a luncheon following the gala.

February 2009: A draft IRS Form 990 was delivered to the tax reviewer for review and submission.

March 2009: A membership meeting was convened at the Sailfish Club. After an invocation by Chaplain Pollard, outgoing Deputy Governor General La Voy was thanked for his service and Meeks assumed that role. The membership presented a Constant Society fellowship in honor of Deputy Governor General Meeks for his past service to SCW-FL. Outgoing officers and council members were thanked for their service. Incoming officers and council members were recognized by the membership and commenced their terms. New member G. Watkins was recognized. Following lunch, Program Chairman Hurt introduced D. Murray of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. Governor Ward on behalf of the membership presented a 2009 grant to the Historical Society of Palm Beach County.

Governor Ward convened a Council meeting following the Membership meeting. Secretary Knowles presented minutes of the previous meeting. The financial reports were presented. Co-chairmen Rutherfurd and Knowles reported results of the twenty-fifth Annual Court, and Chairman Morrish the results of the Gala Luncheon. Chairman Voss presented the Membership report. Chairman Searcy presented the Grants and Contributions report. Chairman Hurt presented the Program report. New business at the January Council was reviewed. Council affirmed that a "second-Tuesday" in January 2010 membership luncheon would be held at the Sailfish Club, with a council meeting immediately following. March 14, 2009: Warriors Brown and Hurt presented a 2009 SCW-FL grant to Genealogical Society of the Palm Beaches President Comerford at a GSPB membership meeting.

March 2009: A 2009 SCW-FL grant was presented to the Palm Beach Atlantic University History Department.

March 2009: On behalf of the membership, Governor Ward presented a 2009 SCW-FL grant to Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy Principal Ford, for the History Department.

March 2009: On behalf of the membership, Governor Ward presented a 2009 SCW-FL initial grant to Florida Historical Society Brokemarkle. An interview with Governor Ward was recorded.

March 2009: Chairman Searcy composed and delivered "matching grant" applications to GSCW. Chairman Welsh of the GSCW Grants and Contributions Committee reports the April 1, 2009 deadline was met. Initial review suggests all SCW-FL 2009 grants will be matched 100% by GSCW.

April 2009: Warriors Garbee and Hitt died, have been included in the 2010 Yearbook necrology, and will be remembered in the "broken arrow ceremony. You may recall that Warrior Garbee was a life member with SCW-FL, and a dual member with SCW-VA. Warrior Hitt presented with audience participation a program describing the north american colonies in the context of relative numbers of people involved, and related factors. We celebrate their lives and contributions.

April 14, 2009: Governor Ward convened a membership meeting at the Sailfish Club. After an invocation and opening ceremony, the addition of a January luncheon to the activities schedule was announced. Chairman Searcy and the Grants and Contributions Committee were recognized for their success in developing and bring forward a grants proposal, and for delivering grants to grantees. Opportunities were announced to join the nominations committee, with the intent to further SCW-FL goals in various capacities. Secretary Knowles' progress in drafting the 2009 yearbook was announced. Any information updates need to be submitted promptly. Scheduled participation by Registrar Voss and Governor Ward at the May membership symposium was announced and input solicited. Delegates for GSCW Council were announced. The SCW-FL GSCW delegate reimbursement policy was announced. Members were reminded of the "end of season" Sunday dinner April 26. Following lunch, on behalf of Program Chairman Hurt, a delegation from Florida Atlantic University was introduced and a program on "The Great Awakening of Colonial Times" was presented."

Governor Ward convened a Council meeting following the membership meeting. Secretary Knowles and Deputy Secretary Voss' minutes of the previous meeting were accepted. Treasurer Searcy presented the financial reports, as well as a proposal to re-shape the capital structure. Liquidating the Vanguard Wellesley Income Fund was proposed, as was re-investment in certificate(s) of deposit. The brokerage account would be replaced with a non-brokerage checking account. Chairman Voss presented the Membership report. Chairman Searcy presented the Grants and Contributions report. April 2009: Delegates for GSCW Council were reported to Secretary General Trebing as Warriors Ward, Knowles, Voss, Searcy, and La Voy. Alternate is Warrior Richardson (who was subsequently replaced by Warrior Milne). Warrior Meeks will attend as Deputy Governor General.

April 2009: Governor Ward presented the SCW-FL history award to the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy recipient at the annual awards assembly.

April 26, 2009: Governor Ward convened a membership meeting and "end-of-season" dinner at the Sailfish Club. After an invocation and opening ceremony, new members Barnes and Smithwick were recognized by Governor Ward, Membership Chairman Voss, the membership and their ladies. Secretary Knowles' readiness to have the 2009 yearbook printed was again announced, noting that inputs needed to be submitted promptly. Treasurer Searcy's capital re-structuring was reviewed, with the intent to acquire equity investment as the opportunity was discerned. Council and Committee actions were reviewed, including the addition of a January 2010 membership luncheon and council to the SCW-FL activities schedule, and the SCW-FL GSCW delegate reimbursement policy.

May 2009: Secretary Knowles had the 2009 Yearbook drafted, printed, and mailed. One was returned and forwarded to an out-of-state address. Some minor format changes were made; feedback is invited.

November 10, 2009: Governor Ward convened a membership luncheon at the Sailfish Club. Ben Brotemarkle, PhD, Executive Director of the Florida Historical Society described the wide variety of history access provided by the FHS. Registrar Voss and Membership Committee Chairman Hurt introduced four new members. Governor Ward invited Warriors to identify to Nominations Committee Chairman Morrish and to Grants and Contributions Committee Chairman Searcy nominees to serve on either committee. Delegates to the 2009 General Society assembly reported results. Annual Court Co-chairmen Knowles and Bitting, and Gala Luncheon Chairmen Morrish reported the status of preparations.

November 2009: Treasurer Searcy mailed advance 2010 dues notices as is our practice this time of year.
